Old Players Show Support! 22-Year-Old Classic 'Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen' Selling Like Hotcakes: Tops Sales Charts

Nintendo listed 'Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen' on the eShop last week, set to release on Pokemon Day, February 27, allowing players to enjoy the classic game on Switch and Switch 2.

Already in pre-order, the game has topped eShop sales charts in multiple countries, showing considerable demand for previous Pokemon titles.

Across eShop sales charts in the US, UK, Japan, and Australia, 'Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen' has secured the top two spots, with most players clearly preferring 'Pokemon FireRed' featuring Charizard on the cover, which consistently holds the number one position.

Following is 'Pokemon LeafGreen' with Venusaur on the cover, outselling popular titles like 'Minecraft', 'Mario Kart 8 Deluxe', and 'Pokemon Legends Z-A'.

'Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen' was released on the GBA in 2004, a childhood memory for many, and even the entry point for some into the series.

Before its eShop release, players who wanted to play legally could only do so via second-hand GBA consoles and cartridges. With the eShop listing, players can now directly play on Switch or Switch 2.

However, this version remains true to the original, with no Chinese language support, only Japanese and English.
