Not Abandoned! Lenovo Confirms: Z1 Extreme Legion Go Supported Until 2029

Recently, rumors circulated that Lenovo's first-generation Legion Go would stop receiving driver support, sparked by a message allegedly from Lenovo Korea customer service, even suggesting AMD would cease driver development for Ryzen Z1 Extreme devices.

In response to this rumor, PCWorld reporter Adam Patrick Murray sought clarification from Lenovo US, receiving a clear answer.

Lenovo's official statement says that the Legion Go has not been discontinued, and the company will continue to provide driver and BIOS updates for the device until October 2029.

Lenovo also emphasized that it is coordinating driver release schedules with AMD, and all updates will only be pushed after Lenovo's verification.

This clarification indicates that the information provided by Korea customer service was erroneous or outdated.

However, the official commitment to support until 2029 does not mean users will enjoy day-one game optimizations or rapid driver iterations synchronized with desktop versions.

In fact, Lenovo has been relatively slow in updating drivers for the Legion Go. Currently, the latest AMD graphics driver package listed on its support page is still the September 1, 2025 version.

For users seeking extreme performance and day-one game optimizations, Lenovo Korea previously suggested trying AMD's generic drivers, but this is an unofficial verification path and may have minor compatibility issues.
