GPD has recently officially listed GPDTool as its official in-house tool for its handheld PCs and mini PCs, and positioned it as the successor to MotionAssist on the official support page. GPD device users can finally bid farewell to the era of switching between multiple tools.
According to GPD's official introduction, this tool integrates key functions such as real-time TDP adjustment, performance monitoring, frame rate locking, and fan mode switching. By default, users can summon it in-game at any time with the Ctrl+Shift+F3 hotkey, without needing to switch back to the desktop, and the front-end interface can be fully controlled via gamepad.
In addition, GPDTool can manage custom keyboard and controller key combinations, and provides a dedicated key mapping settings menu for rear buttons on compatible models such as WIN 4, WIN Mini, and WIN Max.
The current public version is GPDTool v1.49, which fixes the desktop interface auto-hide feature, external GPU display errors, and the GPD BOX fan address reading issue. Older versions v1.45 and v1.31 are still available for download, with compatibility covering the entire product line including WIN, WIN Max, WIN Mini, Pocket, and BOX.
In the Windows handheld ecosystem, TDP, fan curves, frame rate limits, and key mapping typically require multiple third-party tools to work together, and conflicts between tools are common. GPDTool interfaces directly with GPD hardware, integrating control permissions at the driver level, effectively avoiding such compatibility issues.
Additionally, the GPD WIN 5, featuring the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395, was showcased at CES 2026, and its higher power draw demands more refined management.
