Lenovo G02 Handheld Found Preloaded with 40,000 Pirated ROMs! Official Response: It Was Third-Party

Recently, multiple overseas users who purchased the G02 handheld on cross-border platforms like AliExpress discovered that the device came preloaded with as many as 40,000 games.

Such a massive preload poses significant copyright legal risks, and the incident has sparked widespread controversy. Lenovo has responded to the matter.

According to Lenovo's statement, the G02 is a rebranded device produced under a regional brand licensing agreement, and authorized distributors ship the G02 without memory cards or preloaded games.

At the same time, Lenovo emphasized that the G02 is sold exclusively in the Chinese market, and the company has not authorized sales of the device outside China, including through third-party platforms such as AliExpress.

Therefore, Lenovo suspects that third-party sellers added the illegal ROMs after the devices left authorized channels, without Lenovo's knowledge or approval.

Currently, Lenovo has launched an investigation and plans to conduct a comprehensive review of its supply chain, distribution network, and supplier partnerships, taking swift action as needed.

Finally, the spokesperson reminded consumers that any content installed outside authorized channels and any issues arising from it are the sole responsibility of the user.
